my homemade soft pretzels

okay, okay.. so i've made these amazing soft pretzels for a few parties and a few get-togethers and everyone just loves them! i've had a couple requests for the recipe... so here it is! feel free to come over any time when they're ready to eat. soft pretzels are definitely in my top 5 favorite snacks. yum.

mix 1 1/4 tsp active dry yeast with 1 1/2 cup lukewarm water in medium to large mixing bowl. then add 2 tbsp brown sugar, 1 1/8 tsp salt, and stir to dissolve. next add 1 cup bread flour, 3 cups regular flour and knead dough until smooth and elastic. cover bowl with warm dish towel and set aside to rise, at least 1/2 hour. 

prepare baking soda water bath with 2 cups warm water and 2 tbsp baking soda. stir often. once dough has risen pinch off bits of dough and roll into long rope (the longer and thinner the better, in my opinion). shape pretzel, then dip pretzel in your baking soda bath and place on greased baking sheet. allow pretzels to rise again, then bake at 450 degrees for about 10 minutes (until golden).

brush with melted butter and salt with course sea salt. for something sweet mix cinnamon and sugar together in a bowl, then dip pretzel in a melted butter bath and then dip into cinnamon sugar mix. sweet or savory they are both ahhhmazing.
